Liz (she/her) has a passion for helping children, young adults and families. She joined Towson University over 25 years ago, first as a technology trainer and then as a learning specialist. Mrs. Scarbrough received her B.A. in chemistry from the University of San Diego, followed by her M.S. in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and M.Ed. in early childhood education at Towson University. In her free time her greatest joy is spending time with family. She also enjoys solving puzzles, playing games, and playing with her green cheek conure, Fiesta.

April Myers

Administrative Assistant II

April Myers

April began her career as a professional chef in Pittsburgh. Eventually, returning to Towson as manager of a natural food store, she honed skills in leadership, operations, and consumer relations for over a decade before taking time to focus on raising her four children. Upon returning to the workforce, April transitioned into office administration, where her organizational expertise and commitment to excellence shine. She currently finds fulfillment supporting the students and staff of the Tutoring & Learning Center. Her passion for education and community has led to leadership roles in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the PTA. During free time, April enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, or stargazing and is an avid reader who believes in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

Jeremy Boettinger

Jeremy (he/Him) earned a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Towson University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Systems Development from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Jeremy has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and started his journey in higher education employment as an Undergraduate Mathematics Tutor before becoming a Tutoring Coordinator here at Towson University. He has a passion for helping students reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom. In his free time, he enjoys cheering for the local sports teams, spending time with family and friends, traveling, training for triathlons, and playing with his dog, Tango..

Janae Carter

Janae Carter

Janae received her B.S. in Liberal Studies at Lesley University and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing at Adelphi University. She has been teaching and aiding students in reaching their learning goals for over a decade and working in higher education since 2020. Janae is a born and bred New Yorker who is always on the lookout for great pizza and bagels. Other than teaching, her passions include dance, reading, and writing. She also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and exploring historical sites.

Kyle Cummings

Kyle is an Information Technology major pursuing his B.A. in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. He also works as the Lab Systems Administrator for the department. In his spare time he enjoys photography, technology, and playing various musical instruments.

Siamak Salmasi

Siamak Salmasi

Siamak comes from a family of educators and has a passion for helping students to be successful. His journey in higher education started from tutoring where he tutored in chemistry and math. In the role of an Academic Success Coach, he helped students develop skills such as organizational and time management, to be successful in college. he received his B.A. in Chemistry from University of Maryland Baltimore County and M.S. in Chemistry from Ohio University. He currently teaches undergraduate chemistry courses and enjoy every aspect of interacting with the students and helping them achieve their educational goals. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He also enjoys biking, swimming, and exploring the state parks and hiking routes. 

Angela Simms

Angela enjoys the vivacious college atmosphere of students seeking a valuable goal. Born and raised in Baltimore, her path turned toward Towson University. She attended TU as a student, worked on campus as a student assistant, earned a B.A. degree in mass communications and devotes her career in higher education as a full-time staff member. In addition to her enjoyment of working with college students for over 35 years, Ms. Simms cherishes church fellowship, giving to the needy and missionaries, traveling, interior decorating and delicious meals with friends and family.

Sandrine Tchatie-Leudeu

Sandrine (she/her) holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics from The City University of New York and a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science from Boston University. With over a decade of experience teaching mathematics in higher education and occasionally French, Sandrine is passionate about enhancing students' learning experiences. In her free time, she enjoys quality time with her family, researching, cooking, painting, and serving as a board member and current president of the Maryland College Learning Center Association. Driven by a love of learning, Sandrine consistently seeks innovative approaches to education.

Tyler Ung

Tyler Ung

Tyler (he/him) is a Towson alumnus and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and Risk Management. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science and Predictive Analytics. During his time as an undergraduate, he was the Public Relations Officer for the Actuarial Science and Risk Management Club in which he helped promote workshops and club events. He recently worked for the Tutoring & Learning Center as the STEM Graduate Assistant. In his spare time, he is an avid gamer that loves hosting game nights with his friends.

Maya Cowling

Maya is pursuing a master's degree in Forensic Science. She graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry with a concentration in Trace Evidence and Drug Analysis. As an undergraduate, she served as the co-president of Towson's Urban Farm Club and worked as a Community Center Assistant. Maya also has experience working as an undergraduate learning assistant for chemistry courses. In her free time, she enjoys baking, completing crossword puzzles, and gardening.

Mikayla Lawrence

Academic Renewal Program Teaching Assistant

Mikayla is a second-year student pursuing her Doctorate of Audiology in the College of Health Professions at Towson University. She holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and Spanish Literature from St. John’s University in New York, as well as a Master’s in Teaching Special Education (K–8). Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Mikayla taught special education for five years in both elementary and middle school. Outside of academics, she runs her own tutoring business, enjoys discovering new coffee shops, biking, and traveling with her partner and dog.

Freda holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and is currently advancing her expertise through a Master of Science in Marketing Intelligence and a Graduate Certificate in Project, Program, and Portfolio Management. She is driven by passion for marketing, academia, and art, and brings a blend of strategic thinking and aesthetic sensibility to every endeavor. Outside of work and studies, she finds joy in gospel music, community engagement, exploring marketing and beauty trends, experimenting with recipes, and unwinding with a good movie.

Neha Savalgi

Math Support Services Graduate Assistant

Neha earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science in India and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Computer Science at Towson University. Prior to beginning her graduate studies, she worked as a Technical Trainer, where she taught programming, artificial intelligence, and data science, and developed a strong passion for making complex concepts accessible to learners of all levels.  At Towson, she continues to expand her knowledge in areas such as artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and data-driven applications. She is enthusiastic about supporting students in their learning journey and contributing to a collaborative academic environment. Outside of her professional and academic work, Neha enjoys baking, cooking, and experimenting with new recipes..

Matthew Vollmouth

Science Support Services Graduate Assistant

Matt is an alumnus of Towson University. He received a  B.S. in Forensic Chemistry with a track in Trace Evidence and Drug Analysis, and a Minor in Creative Writing in December 2022, and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Environmental Science.  Matt was a Natural Science tutor at the Tutoring and Learning Center as an undergraduate and obtained Level 3 CRLA certification. At the same time, Matt completed research projects in Organic Chemistry that were published in PubChem and Nature Waters. In his free time, he enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction novels, hiking, competing in sporting events, and casual gaming.

Jason Wong

Jason Wong

Jason earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise Science, Theater Arts, and Biology at Towson University.  He has also completed his Master of Science in Biology at TU. He is now pursuing his second Master’s degree in Nursing. During his graduate degree, he was a graduate teaching assistant for the Department of Biological Sciences. Jason recently served as a biology adjunct professor and first-year and transfer student advisor. He has a passion for healthcare and education. He enjoys going to the movies, watching Broadway musicals, and traveling.

Molly Zucker

Academic Renewal Program Teaching Assistant

Molly earned her Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Services from Towson University and is currently pursuing her Master's of Science in Child Life, Administration, and Family Collaboration. During her undergraduate studies, she held leadership roles in both the American Sign Language Club and the Child Life Club. In addition to her role as a teaching assistant, Molly works as an assistant teacher at a local preschool. She is passionate about supporting children and their families and is dedicated to fostering positive developmental experiences for the children she works with. Outside of her professional work, Molly enjoys spending time with her family and friends and playing card games.
