Biography
Joshua Samuel Carr is an award-winning trumpet performer whose career spans
orchestral, chamber and solo appearances across the United States. Joshua recently
completed a prestigious two-year fellowship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
As a member of the orchestra he performed in over 100 concerts per season, including
major subscription and pops programs, a special concert under the baton of John Williams
streamed and broadcast on German television, and a featured solo
appearance in the Lift Every Voice concert series. Joshua has also been part of
performances broadcast in the U.S. and was featured on WQED, Pittsburgh’s classical
music station.
In addition to his work with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Carr also performs regularly with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic and the Mid-Atlantic Symphony. He has also joined the Westermorland Symphony, the Northeast Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and the Capital Wind Symphony.
Joshua has been part of various unique projects; from touring the region's historic
theaters with the Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra accompanying the silent films of Buster
Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, to opening for the band Reel Big Fish. In San Francisco,
Mr. Carr performed with several orchestras including the Symphony Parnassus, the San
Francisco Academy Orchestra and the Awesöme Orchestra. In collaboration with Undercover
Presents, he performed a tribute to A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders as part
of the Awesöme Orchestra Collective.
Joshua received his Master’s Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music
and his Bachelor’s from Towson University. He is thrilled to return to Towson University
to teach and share his commitment to bringing music to diverse audiences in order
to uplift and connect our communities.
