Biography

After graduating from high school, Mrs. Burton-Hooper pursued her BFA in Dance Performance at Towson University.  After graduating she spent the summer in New York attending the Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive program.  After returning to Baltimore from New York, she taught dance at Children’s Dance Division (formally known as Community Dance) for 3 years and joined two local dance companies, Nancy Romita and The Moving Company and The Dina Reyes Jazz Dance Company.  She also danced for 92.3 radio station as a “Cutie” from 1993 to 1994. 

To expand her dancing career, Mrs. Burton-Hooper moved to Los Angeles, California in 1997 to pursue her dream as a professional dancer.  Her first gig was a music video for Snoop Dog, “Still a G Thang” and since then has performed in numerous music videos with artist such as Destiny’s Child, Lenny Kravitz and P-Diddy to name a few.  She has performed with Busta Rhymes feat. P-Diddy and Jamie Fox at the 2002 Soul Train Awards, Beyonce at the 2003 Billboard Awards, Tyresse at the 2003 Lady of Soul Awards and LFO at the 1999 ALMA Awards. Mrs. Burton Hooper performed in Oslo, Norway in Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies and many Industrials including one for Maybelline Cosmetics that traveled to Tokyo, Japan.  She toured with Tracie Spencer in 1998 and also toured with the Legendary Smokey Robinson traveling the world from 1999-2016.  Dancing in iconic venues such as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Hyde Park in London and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  Mrs. Burton-Hooper has also danced in the movies Johnson’s Family Vacation, Flintstones –Viva Rock Vegas, Walk Hard, Beautiful and Idlewild and in TV shows My Name Is Earl, American Dreams, Sister Sister and Kristin.  She was also a regular dancer on the TV show “Your Big Break” from 1999 -2001 with Hosts, Kid from Kid and Play and Alfonzo Riberio.  Mrs. Burton-Hooper has also danced and acted in several commercials with the latest one for the NFL Network in 2015.
