Biography

Dr. Staci M. Rensch (she/her/hers) is a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in the Deaf Studies Program at Towson University and a passionate educator dedicated to advancing deaf education and historical scholarship. A Maryland native and graduate of the Maryland School for the Deaf, Dr. Rensch brings both lived experience and extensive academic training to her work in deaf education and historical research.

Dr. Rensch's educational journey spans multiple institutions and disciplines. After earning her BA in History and Government from Gallaudet University, she pursued graduate studies in deaf education at McDaniel College and history at Salisbury University, where she specialized in Early Colonial America and Chesapeake Studies. She completed her doctoral work at Capella University, focusing on leadership in higher education with particular attention to addressing audism in academic settings.

Her teaching experience encompasses K-12 education at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and residential treatment facilities, as well as higher education at McDaniel College and Towson University. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Rensch is a certified Professional Life Coach and trained literacy specialist for deaf and hard of hearing students.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Rensch is an active scholar and lifelong learner who enjoys reading and British television series. Her commitment to continuous learning reflects her belief in education as a transformative force.
